Apparently, paper birds are quite popular online. They can give your artwork display that 3D effect and also showcase motion in your presentations. I’m learning so much in terms of displaying artwork correctly and in new, interesting ways. Who knew this social media thing could be such a science? But here we are, learning and finally improving in unique ways, and I have to tell you, it’s a lot of fun.
I will soon start to study something few ever consider, so I can improve my art beyond my competition. My big sellers today are my angel portraits. They bring hope into people’s lives. They also have this daydreaming effect, usually because of the sunset and reflecting waters. But the angels themselves can improve, I think. When it comes to angels it’s so difficult to actually find any references. This means that you have to study the wings of the birds in order to draw angel wings correctly for what the paintings aim to display or the emotions you want to capture.
This is going to take a little bit of an effort, but the reward is even more artistic freedom, which I’m really looking forward to at this stage as an artist.
The artwork itself displayed here is a mix of acrylic on canvas and acrylic on wood. The paper birds are made using the backside of small photo papers, just for the stability of the paper. Photo paper still hold about 4 layers of colour pencil, which you then blend together using a white coloured pencil and firm pressure.
The artwork to the right is of a cat in a tree with a house in the background. This was made on some leftover scrap wood I had laying around, and then I used five different acrylic paints for the whole piece. The middle bird is the only canvas in the picture; it’s made with lower-quality acrylic paint. It’s originally captured from a close-up photograph one winter day, the background being that of a porch.
The top green piece is a very low-detailed butterfly sitting on a miniature easel. It’s just a neat piece for a shelf in general. The lower bird in the blue hue is actually one of my memories of a day last year. It’s there to be remind me of the good times in life. It’s only in three colours, but the light blue really pops against the brown and the grey.

That's a nice display shelf. Hope you show more of the art up close!
